It's strange you have to pay a warranty of 250€
Overall I am extremely dissapounted of the guy in the reception who didn’t upgrade us to a better room/suite - as expedia-Gold-member! He lied director to my face telling there were no better rooms! But according to hotels.com there were plenty of suites and rooms with view etc….

C’est ma deuxieme visite dans votre hotel et surement pas la derniere. Je choisi votre hôtel pour la localisation centrale avec l’accès facile à plusieurs restaurant et magasins. J’apprécie le travail des femmes de chambres, ma chambre étaient très propre tout le long de mon séjour. Aucun coin rond comme au dit au Québec quand le ménage est fait mais pas en profondeur. Quand je vais à l’ hôtel, je remarque toujours la poussière laisser en arrière du téléviseur ou bien les bord de fenêtre, ce qui n’est pas le cas à votre hôtel tout est extrêmement propre. J’apprécie aussi la gentiellesse et le professionalisme de tout votre personnel. Merci et à bientôt j’espère.

Really good experience. Loved it. Minor faults; I object to having 250 Euros charged to my card on arrival as though I am going to run off with the contents of my room. A negative first impression. Also the hotel was strangely warm. Even though there appeared to be no heating in the room it was very warm - but happily the windows opened and the location is fairly quiet so we kept the window wide open (this is late October) and it was fine.
Fabulous view. Really comfortable bed. Very importantly had separate duvets on the double bed which should be the norm but often isn't.
Fabulous location on the edge of the old town. Extremely convenient for public transport.

A nice hotel with excellent location. Friendly staff. Hotel is dated and bedroom and en suite needs some updating. Shower is powerfull but very awkward to handle. Only 3 very soft pillows for a double bed and 2 single quilts rather than a double quilt.

Our room was very quaint with what looked like antiques furniture. The shower and pillows were wonderful. I would have liked to take the pillow with me! The room was clean and very spacious. We could not have asked for anything nicer.
At first when we drove up, I was disappointed but after we left to explore, the location was absolutely perfect. We were only 1 block down from the entrance to the main square and everything was easy to get to.

Das Cravat ist ein Palazzo der etwas in die Jahre gekommen ist und liebevoll renoviert. Die Farbe die an einigen Orten absplittert, tut seinem 20er-Jahre- Charme nichts ab. Uns hat es sehr gefallen. Es ist super gelegen, man macht alles zu Fuss und das Parkhaus ´Knüdler‘ ist um die Ecke. Wir hatten ein schönes, grosses Zimmer. Hell und sauber. Überhaupt ist das ganz Hotel sehr sauber und Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich. Wir werden wieder im Cravat absteigen.
Es wirkt etwas in die Jahre gekommen.
Bad erneuern, die Badewanne und die Toilette sind offensichtlich nicht mehr sauber zu halten. Beschichtung der Badewanne kaputt.

Very nice hotel, authentic, quite vintage that makes it special, very cute elevator like from other century, super cozy and on top of that an amazingly friendly stuff. Just because does not have air-co system I will recommend it outside of the summer season.
Wir würden bei nochmaligen Besuch in Luxemburg gerne wieder in Ihrem ein Zimmer buchen.
Es gab nichts zu beanstanden etwas kühlung wäre schön gewesen da es sehr warm draußen war.

Overall very good, great location for easy access to all things Luxembourg. Was noisy enough that earplugs were very much required.
Sound proofing is very poor. Both between rooms and from the outside. All our lights were electrically interconnected, trying to use different combinations of lights resulted in different effects (e.g. using the main light and the bedside light at the same time cause the bedside light to strobe).

Gut das Hotel hat den Charme der alten Zeiten gut bewahren können, jedoch sind einige Modernisierungen doch notwendig. Klima auf den Zimmern (bessere Luft)

Prachtig oud Grand Hotel dat perfect is onderhouden in de oorspronkelijke stijl.
Geheel in de originele stijl gebleven en perfect onderhouden. We waanden ons weer even in de jaren ‘50.
Op nog geen 300 meter van de Place des Armes met alle gezellige restaurantjes en terrasjes.
100% in orde.
Personeel is uiterst hulpvaardig en vriendelijk.

Overall we had a great trip to Luxembourg and we were pleased we stayed at the GHC.
Our bright fifth floor corner room with windows on two sides and doors to a large wraparound balcony was charming. The decor was fresh and clean in a traditional style. It was good to have a kettle but it would have been nice to have a choice of tea (Earl Grey please!). The bathroom was clean but very dated, with a shower over the bath and a tube for a hairdryer. This was disappointing.
The location was great - very central and easy to walk around the city centre. It was also convenient for the free buses and trams. However it could be noisy at night with shouting and waste collections.
Luxembourg seemed very clean and tidy!

Beautiful historic hotel in the center of Luxembourg. Staff were fantastic. Would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable room with nice amenities. Only downside was no AC but that is to be expected in an older hotel.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent old city location with no air conditioning. Staff, who try to help, upon failing, have no interest in helping said customer recover from the failure. I asked for a taxi, and was told to use the bus instead because 'all busses go to the train station'. After riding a bus to the Stadium, I was able to make my way back, but missed my train by over an hour. I asked for a room for the night because I had missed my train, and the front desk man basically yelled at me that I was stupid not to have found the train station or new train tickets. "The train goes every hour". Well, not direct, and those tickets weren't for sale! (There were options that take 13 and 17 hours instead of 4 or 5, but none of the 4 or 5 hour options were for sale.) He said, "I don't know if I have any rooms." and never responded with anything else. While in the lobby, looking for additional train tickets to buy, I booked a flight for the following day and a new hotel for that night since he clearly did not want my business. It very much soured me on your beautiful hotel. The man, is an older one with patchy hair and on the shorter side, if that helps identify him. When I checked in the night before, 2 older gentlemen were working, and the other has a full head of hair and is much taller than the one who would not call me a taxi.
It would have been MUCH nicer with air conditioning. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice and spacious.
It is a FABULOUS location! It is right next to the Old City, easy to walk to everything there. Plus, all taxi drivers know where it is!

They try, and mostly succeed. Again, if a guest asks for a taxi, to go to an unfamiliar location, please just get them a taxi, rather than try to tell them that ALL the busses go to the Train Station. They don't. Much of my trip was disrupted because of this, having to spend an extra day in LUX, losing tours in next stop, etc. That 'advice' probably cost me $700. :( Obviously, not very helpful.
Excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it. Very grand setting felt like staying in a stately home not a hotel.
We stayed in one of the front rooms which had views of the square as well as double french doors to open and look out.

Vi är väldigt nöjda med vår vistelse på hotellet men det är de små sakerna som man märker ibland. Frukostsalen, att två glödlampor är ur funktion märks med gång när man har sådan lampetter. Varför byter man dom inte innan frukost. Två minuters arbete
Saknade skohorn på rummet och det hade inte varit fel med en korkskruv. Samt att ha en fungerande tv så var rummet utmärkt

Är egentligen extremt nöjd med allas vänlighet men jag blev fundersam på svaret vi fick när vi felanmälde att tv hade tappat sina kanaler. Vet fortfarande inte vad som var för fel på tv:n. Vi upplevde det iallafall väldigt märkligt.

We had a corner room looking straight out to the statue. The room was bright, super comfortable, and looked much more stylish than the photos online! I would stay here again. The staff is really nice as well.

We stayed 3 nights and will never return to this hotel. Room was clean but carpet & drapes were dirty. We had to check out early at 6.45am on last day so couldn’t have breakfast which we paid for. The lovely waitress spent 10 min to check if they could provide us a sandwich to take with us when we check out the next day. However the rude staff at reception not only said no sandwich for us but also wanted us to pay extra 10 euros. A mistake he admitted but didn’t apologise. He just wanted us gone & refused to talk or look at us. A rude staff!!! Luxembourg is lovely but stay away from this horrible hotel.
Replace carpet, install air condition units
We stayed 3 nights. There was only one nice and friendly waitress at breakfast, nice cleaning ladies. The rest of staff were not hospitable, they never smile & one of them downright rude.
Worst hotel I have stayed in for years. My room on 2nd.floor was extremely warm with no ventilation or AC. And when I opened the window it was so much noise from the outside that you could not even listen to TV and have a normal conversation inside the room. Managed to sleep for 3 hours. If you for any reason decide to stay in this hotel, you have to insist on rooms that are not facing the streets

Sehr schönes Hotel. Ein bisschen mehr Schein als Sein. Personal sehr gut und anständig gekleidet. Leider beim Suchen von Lösungen und beim Frühstücksservice nicht kundenorientiert. Das Personal an der Reception zeigte sich stets sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Das machte einen guten Eindruck.

Quand je me rends au luxembourg, j opte pour l hôtel Cravat de façon systématique. C est une valeur sûre.
Il manquait de prise de connexion pour charger les produits électroniques mais la chambre au 5e étage avait une vue panoramique. Splendide. Les chambres sont bien nettoyées.
Au centre de tout donc proche de tout.
Le personnel est souriant, accueillant et très serviable.

Not much in the way of ventilation for the single room on level 2, particularly when the bathroom radiator was put on unwanted which left the room very warm. A floor standing fan may be useful.

Das Grand Hotel Cravat ist liebenswürdig in die Jahre gekommen. Uns hat das sehr gefallen. Dass bei einem Aufenthalt von zwei Nächten unsere Handtücher und sogar unsere Bettwäsche (!) ungefragt nach einer Nacht ausgewechselt wurden, halten wir jedoch für fragwürdig. Diese Verschwendung von Ressourcen empfinden wir in der heutigen Zeit als nicht nachhaltig und vollkommen unnötig.
Den Charme der 1960er Jahre mögen wir sehr. Einige Details im Bad sollten aber doch dringend gerichtet werden: der Handtuchhalter bricht beinahe aus der Wand, die Ablage hängt schief, der Fön ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß.
Die Lage des Grand Hotel Cravat ist absolut top! In der Oberstadt, alles fußläufig erreichbar. Bushaltestelle zum Bahnhof und zu den P+R-Parkhäusern fast direkt vor der Tür.

Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Empfang durch Ihren Hauptportier. Allerdings war die Behandlung durch den Sonntagsportier (17.3.) sehr verbesserungsbedürftig. Wir verstehen nicht, dass unsere Kreditkarte bei der Anreise mit einer 250-Euro-Kaution belastet wurde und wir erst auf mehrmaliges Nachfragen am Sonntag (und erst nach einer „Kontrolle“ unseres Zimmers) eine Rückerstattung dieser Kaution erfolgte. Auch das haben wir noch in keinem Haus erlebt…

Très bel hôtel, proche centre ville a 20 minutes à pied de la gare. Par contre, la chambre au premier étage est très bruyante et on entend les voisins. C'est moins cool quand on veut se reposer.

Ubicación excelente, cerca de todos los sitios turísticos y de las paradas del bus y tranvía para poder ir al aeropuerto. Lo cual es muy conveniente. El hotel tiene el encanto de su decoración clásica. Nuestra habitación era muy espaciosa. El desayuno bueno lo cual es una ventaja en una ciudad donde los precios son algo caros. El personal muy amable, tuvimos una situación peliaguda en el hotel y la dirección del hotel enseguida puso de su parte para resolverla satisfactoriamente. Por decir algún punto de mejora, igual sería modernizar el sistema de llaves 🔑 de las habitaciones y el tipo de almohadas. Muchas gracias por todo.

Bonne situation, très bon en général. Très mal dormi à cause du lit trop petit, mes pieds étaient dans le vide. Lors de la réservation j’ai demandé (il y avait le choix) un grand lit double, j’ai reçu un retour que c’était sous réserve de disponibilité ce que je comprends. L’hôtel était très peu fréquenté et on n’a malgré tout pas accepté ma demande. Je viens souvent à Luxembourg pour le travail et via une promotion je suis venu chez vous, à cause de cela je n’y viendrai malheureusement plus car je n’ai pratiquement pas dormi. Dommage car le reste m’a plu.

I loved the decor of the hotel, but it may not be to everyone's taste. Some may find it old-fashioned. It is comfortable and full of character. I found the lounge area a little cluttered with displays ( intersting as they were) about the history of "Cravat". They hid the features of the room. Is this display remporary?

J'ai bcp aimé la préservation du style 50, la localisation et la propreté. Je regrette que le service ne soit pas plus chaleureux. Il faudrait allonger les horaires du petit déjeuner , surtout le week-end.

The experience was great. I had an amazing time. I wish I could stay there for a longer time, but the high price was a bit of a restriction. One thing about the room, which I mentioned to the reception was about the sink in the room, which wasn't working properly.

Wir kamen spät Abends an. Der Herr an der Rezeption war sehr nett. Beim Check Out wurde unfreundlich nach dem Namen gefragt, dann mussten wir den Schlüssel abgeben und der Rezeptionist meinte , setzen er müsse zuerst das@Zimmer kontrollieren und dann gibt's das Depot retour. Kalt unfreundlich unmotiviert. Das Hotel wäre wunderschön wenn man es pflegen und renovieren würde. Für diesen Zustand 250.- Depot zu verlangen ist schon sehr speziell.

Gute Lage, Zimmer sehr sauber. Es fehlt allerdings eine Klimaanlage oder zumindest die Möglichkeit die Fenster Abends und Nachts auf zu machen. Dies war mit den Lampen direkt vor den Fenstern und den Mücken die davor flogen eher bedingt möglich. Dadurch war das Zimmer extrem warm in der Nacht. Toll sind die Rollos, die den Raum komplett abdunkeln.
Mückengitter vor den Fenstern damit man bei Hitze auch abends/ Nachts die Fenster öffnen kann.

Wenn die Ruhestörung nicht gewesen wäre, gutes Hotel mit gutem Peis-Leistungsverhältnis. Störung wurde vorbildlich von Herrn Cravat und seinem Team gelöst.
Sauber aber z.B. die Badewanne ist naja. Keine Klima.
Innenstadtlage perfekt. Aber Achtung: liegt direkt an einem Eventplatz. Wenn da was los ist, ist es sehr laut.
Für ein bis zwei Nächte ok.

If not for the other room it was very good.
We had 2 rooms. One room on the 2nd floor was a corner room with a fantastic view overlooking the square. The main problem with this room was there was no AC, which was terrible as at night there were so many insects that you could not open a window and it was very hot in the room. I would otherwise give this room a 5 rating The other room, however, was not great. The carpets were old the furniture tattered, the bathroom had a double sink with one full of water that clearly did not work. The door in the bathroom was broken. I would give 1 rating for that room, therefore overall I have given a 3.

The location is superb. The rooms are very well equipped and of good size. Very comfortable bed and excellent double glazing protecting from noise from the busy area. I appreciated complimentary fruit upon my arrival. The staff was great and very helpful. A large variety of choices at the breakfast buffet. Some more lactose-free options would be welcome for someone like me who is intolerant.

Struttura centralissima (alle spalle della Cattedrale) con tanto spazio sia nelle parti comuni (sala colazione, hall, corridoi) che nella camera (armadio grande, ampia poltrona, tavolino e sedie, due finestre, specchio grandissimo sia in camera che nel bagno con due lavabi, vasca, wc in stanza a parte). Personale gentile, disponibile e qualcuno parlava anche un pò di italiano (cosa molto rara in Lussemburgo). Check in rapidissimo; Due ascensori (uno più piccolo ma gradevole in stile vintage). Pulizia buona. WI.FI. ottimo. Colazione discreta (non troppo varia e poco ricercata soprattutto per la parte dolce).
Qualche accessorio era decisamente vecchio e andava cambiato (qualche porta rovinata, una tenda, delle lampade, il mobiletto del frigo bar)
L'ultima sera acqua appena tiepida (per non dire fredda) nella doccia. Nessuno ci aveva avvertito del guasto e nessuno si è scusato!

Typical European room, spotlessly clean, nice street view, an apple from the hotel each was a nice touch and simply showed the attention to service.
A few steps from the old town and pedestrian precinct. Overlooking the river valley and the original "low town", a couple if minutes from the Cathedral and the main square. Close to buses and trams.
Not sure what this is asking but the room, the hotel and the entire city is very clean. I'm not aware of seeing any garbage anywhere and recycling bins are easily available city wide.
Every member of staff we encountered was pleasant and helpful. We particularly enjoyed the evening reception worker, possibly because he was on duty when we arrived, but no member of staff could have been more helpful.

Ich habe dadurch die ganze Nacht nicht schlafen können! nur 2 kleine Handtücher, nur 1 Paar Hotelpantoffeln, nur 1 Tasse für Tee, nur 1 Apfel als Willkommensgruß

The location was perfect for walking through the town and parking behind the hotel in Knuedler parking garage was very simple. (Parking on the -3 floor is the best as it is brand new) If you are used to air conditioning, then you may need to find another hotel, but the gentleman at the reception desk offered us a fan for our room which was a huge help. (We were there during a heat wave.) This hotel is a "classic" European hotel, similar to what you would find in Italy or other European countries.

Great location, bright and airy room with a nice view and helpful staff. The lack of air conditioning in 30+ temperatures was a drawback. We found the heat and lack of circulation in the bathroom a bit unpleasant also. Staff were very friendly.

Also the noise coming from the next room bathroom is very sensitive as no-one wants to hear a stranger do his/hers needs at 3AM

I loved the hotel and the staff were wonderful. We had a very short stay, so we did not eat or visit the bar, but the breakfast looked wonderful. There is some noise from the street at night, but that is expected in the heart of the city.

We had a wonderful visit to Luxembourg and shall return. Our only issue was with the potential for noise in the room and lack of climate control but that is just down to the age of the property. All in all the hotel is a lovely place to stay.
Great location and view only slightly spoilt by the issue of connecting doors and potential and experience of noise. The age of the hotel also means that no air conditioning makes a stay in a hot summer uncomfortable. Staff very obliging and gave us a fan but our last night was unbearably hot.

The room had just been painted, the smell made you want to open up the window and outside there was a lot of noise almost all night. We were offered an other room on the inside but did not like that.

The overall experience was great except the fact that somebody was constantly smoking on the 5th floor where was the room I stayed in. The smell was so strong so I had to keep the windows opened while slleping. That was a huge disappointment and made the stay much less comfortable.
"Old fashion" interiuor - I loved it; the view was great; some small details (bath robes, shelves in the bathroom, convinient small mirror, plendy of shower gels, bluetooth speaker) made the stay even more comfortable.

The hotel is well located in the heart of the city, staff is nice and friendly and our room was clean and well lit. The lobby / common areas seem a bit stuffy, with a scent that reminds of old people that don't go out much. In Corona times, this does not really matter much, since we're outside most of the time anyways. Breakfast was great: good quality bakery, eggs to your taset, abundant food and nicely served, even with the challenges of Corona. I think visitirs would appreciate a recommendation / direction for parking in the area. There are a few parking plazas at walking distance, but the closes one is quite busy as it is the most centric (it was full when we got there sohad to circle downtown for a while and parked 4 blocks away. Extra pillows in the bed would have made our sleep better.

super lage. gutes hotel, wenn man „vintage“ mag. das automatische „nachtlicht“ ist viel zu grell. die defekte sanitärinstallation beim lavabo müsste eigentlich auch dem putzpersonal auffallen. am 2. tag war der wasserkocher beschädigt. (jemand hat den deckel zu weit aufgewürgt). ich habe ihn selber repariert. dafür floss der strom nur noch in steckdose unter dem pult.... es ist mühsam, wg. dem kurzen kabel auf den knien einen kaffee zu brauen.

Hela hotellets inredning möblering är förmodligen den samma som för 50år sedan trots det är helt fläckfritt, inget är trasigt, 100% funktionelt "ALLT"även ett badrum som fungerar som förväntat där man kan duscha utan att hela badrummet är blött, bra belysning så man ser, samt att man kan mörklägga rummet för nattsömn, nyckel till dörren som fungerar inte ett kort som fungerar då och då. All nybyggda hotell skulle behöva göra ett besök här för att lära sig. Sängarna vara fruktansvärda jag tror golvet vore mjuka att liga på.

The only small point was that the entrance doors could only be pulled very hard into the lock when leaving the room. This was leading to loudly slamming doors, specifically in the morning.
The reception staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, the cleaning very friendly and attentive.

Love the quirkiness the hotel offers. But the guest room clearly has a long way to go to warrant that 4 stars in 2019. Noise coming from the street is simply not good enough. This is something you'd expect in dodgy Asian "4 star hotels". The issues of this hotel simply doesn't match the outstanding service you get from a professional and friendly staff members.
Quality of pillow is terrible. I needed to ask the service staff for an extra 4. Fridge was patched up and clearly broken. Bathroom mildew/moldy smell suggests it needs updating. Windows are poor, so thin you can hear conversations of people from the street.

The Grand Hotel Cravat (Luxemburg) is very well located; in this way, it was always possible to make our journeys, to return to the hotel for a brief rest, and to continue what had been planned. When we arrived, very late, we considered it very nice, on the part of your services, to have an apple, as a form of reception. The staff were efficient and welcoming. We would like to emphasize the fact that there was a very pleasant dialogue, at breakfast, by the employees who were there, who, in a very correct way, were pleased to guide us on the best routes to take in your country. Whenever we had any doubts, there was a good disposition to enlighten us at the reception.

It´s a clasic hotel for who loves 1940 style. The smell and the building is not modern but it´s in a very good position of Luxemburg and they threat you kindly. The break fast is perfect and the waiters are polite and happy.
I was positivley surprised with the classic type hotel. Old elevator, real room keys, friendly hosts. But where was the remote for air conditioning?

We had a very nice and comfortable stay. Location of the hotel was very good (both close to the train station and very central), and the staff was friendly. We really like the authentic look of the hotel and its rooms.

Nous sommes très satisfaits de notre séjour à l'hôtel Cravat. Il est idéalement situé, l'accueil est parfait. Nous avons bien apprécié les petites attentions (fruits trouvés dans la chambre à notre retour de promenade). Le problème commun aux hôtels du centre ville de Luxembourg je pense, est le coût du stationnement. Il existe plusieurs parcs de stationnement publics mais le coût est assez prohibitif (nous avons payé environ 35€ pour une durée de stationnement qui était d'un peu moins de 24h).

The location is excellent, the hotel is in old stile and wonderful, breakfast is good.
Overall, my stay was reasonably enjoyable for my purposes and I enjoyed the sense of history and location. However, while the hotel was clean, the room could have used a bit of an update. That being said, the refurbished bathroom was very nice.

We consider to visit a Luxembourg again in summer time.
We have been upgraded to 5th floor for extra €50. Room and view from the room was absolutely amazing. The only minus was that the showerhead was broken and only a bath was a solution....

We have stayed at this hotel before and were extremely pleased with it, but this time we found our room was much smaller and could be updated, we had a problem, with the bed as it was a little small for two people to sleep in. Our main worry was the bathroom, the shower/bath was so high and difficult to climb in and out of. Our overall stay was good and we do plan to stay again we shall however ask for a larger room as we did the first time preferably looking out over the valley,
Next time we will opt for a bigger room with a bigger bed.

Not great. The whole place was extremely outdated. My room as very close to the lifts and all I could hear first thing in the morning was the noise filtered through the gap of the main room door. The only thing going for this hotel was the central location. Room price definitely was expensive (€123.00 for 1 night) for what it offered and that is without going into detail of the bathroom facilities.
Overhauls all the premises. Total new refurbishment inside.

It was a large and clean room with beautiful decoration. Although a bit cold. The heating wasn’t enough for such a large room.
